| "Truth" convenient with EFILM |
 |
The Paramount Classics global warming documentary, "An Inconvenient Truth", presented a real test of EFILM's unique Tape to Film process. The film was a mixture of virtually every format. There was stock footage (film and tape), digital graphic files, still images and documentary HD footage of Al Gore on the road. All elements had to be choreographed as dynamic backgrounds for the live HD shoots of Al Gore giving the presentation.
"It was a real smorgasbord of frame rates and image qualities", notes David Hays, EFILM Technical Producer, "but the clients had the foresight to involve us early in the process."
"Truth" Producer Lesley Chilcott recalls, "EFILM was with us from the beginning of this project, even dropping by our set to discuss our choice of HD cameras in the studio and later running tests on various formats (8mm, 16mm, 35mm, and a variety of HD prosumer cameras) that were later used in the field. At no point were we ever treated like the independent documentary that we were, the service was superior at all times. Even when we were dropping targa sequences in at the last moment, EFILM accommodated us."
The availability of a wide range of image capture devices is a real benefit to today's filmmakers. The challenge of combining them into a high quality cinema presentation is an EFILM specialty.
