| EFILM adds ARRISCAN |
|
EFILM is pleased to announce the integration of the ARRISCAN film scanner into our workflow. It represents a significant addition to EFILM's current installation of 14 ARRI Laser Film Recorders, the largest single installation worldwide.
Our growing relationship with ARRI is the result of their proven reliability and their willingness to collaborate with EFILM technical staff on demands that are important to our clients', notes Bill Feightner, EFILM Vice President and Chief Technology Officer.
The ARRISCAN represents a new generation in scanning technology. The scanner uses a two dimensional CMOS area array to sample the film in a fixed position as opposed to a moving line array used by other scanners. This significantly improves signal to noise and dynamic range. Illumination comes from a precisely tuned LED light source, which vastly improves the color response, lowers illuminant induced heating of the film, and provides a new level of stability. The scanners have been integrated into EFILM's image management system (COLORSTREAM) to deliver unsurpassed color.
Utilizing the scanners' fourth channel, infrared detector, EFILM can also offer automatic dust-busting during the scanning process. This can create a more efficient and cost effective workflow.
