Congratulations!
EFILM Colorist, Steve Scott, is the first recipient of the Hollywood Post Alliance (HPA) award for Outstanding Color Correction- Feature Film DI Process.

On November 1, 2006 the winners of the inaugural HPA Awards received their honors in a standing room only event at the Skirball Center in Los Angeles. The awards recognized top talent in eleven categories critical to creative and technical post -production for motion pictures, television and commercials.

Steve Scott was recognized for his outstanding color work on The Illusionist, a period drama directed by Neil Burger and photographed by Dick Pope. Steve comments,
"I was blessed to be working with the amazing cinematography of Dick Pope as well as Neal Burger's visionary desire to explore the artistic boundaries of the DI medium. My background is in painting and illustration (I'm not a "computer guy" and do not have a technological background), so I approached Neal's desire to create a "Moving Autochrome" look as though I were completing a painting. It's a similar process to reproducing a great artist's work; You carefully study the artwork (in this case turn-of the-century experiments in color photography called "Autochromes"), then you work from back to front, breaking down the elements and layering which comprise the image. You then try to re-create the look, layering, and technique on the images you're provided. Fortunately Dick Pope's beautiful imagery gave me an enormous head start."

The HPA represents the professional community of businesses and individuals who provide expertise, support, tools and the infrastructure for the creation and finishing of motion pictures, television, commercials, digital media and other dynamic media.
