| Stephen Goldblatt : Photo Exhibit and Private Auction to Benefit Human Rights in Burma |
 |
EFILM is pleased to present a private exhibit and live auction of photos of Burma's people and landscape, taken by Stephen Goldblatt, ASC, BSC, to benefit the Human Rights Center at the University of California, Berkeley. The event will feature remarks by Goldblatt (Director of Photography for many award-winning films, including Julie and Julia, Charlie Wilson's War and Angels in America) and staff of the Human Rights Center, who have spent extensive time in Burma developing training programs for activists. All proceeds from the exhibit and auction will benefit the Human Rights Center.
Burma's repressive military regime came to world attention most recently last spring, when Cyclone Nargis devastated the region leaving more than 140,000 dead or missing and countless more homeless. Humanitarian assistance came from around the world but was halted at the coast by the ruling junta, fearful of foreign involvement.
At the same time, the country offers breathtaking beauty in its varied architecture, verdant fields, and peaceful people, all captured in Stephen Goldblatt's stunning photos.
The Human Rights Center (HRC) is supported by grants and philanthropic contributions. Please consider making a gift to help the Human Rights Center train the next generation of human rights activists and build a vibrant civil society in Burma.
